About the Music: Chasin' the Sun

Sometimes our goals can feel so far away it often feels like we are running after shadows. Just when we think we are getting close, the shadows change shape and direction and we are farther away than ever, just like the sun; always moving, never staying in the same place. Life is a difficult journey. It is a daily struggle to keep ourselves focused and on target. But in spite of all this, it is the journey that makes us strong: all the struggling, running, stumbling, and falling. It is what makes success so awesome when we finally get it. If there were no cost for victory, we would not find it such a relief. We all have dreams. It is my reminder to us all that even though the road is seldom easy, if the dream is a worthwhile one, it is worth a few scraped knees.

About the Music: Learning to Live

I remember writing this song when I lived in this little flat, near downtown Detroit. It was really late at night and I was really feeling trapped by everything, especially a relationship I was in at the time. Sometimes we just don't see the writing on the wall until we look in the mirror and the person staring back feels like a stranger. . like our true self has slipped away in order to make someone else happy or keep the peace. This happens so gradually sometimes we don't even see it. I think love should celebrate who you are and make you more than you thought you could be, not the opposite. To my girlfriends out there: If someone loves you, you shouldn't have to play yourself down, be less successful, make less money, or be less talented for your boyfriends issues. You are with the wrong guy if this sounds like you. SO . . if any of you feel like you are in love jail today, this song is for you. "You hold the key girl, it's not too late . . . "

About the Music: Safe

I remember when I wrote this song I had a good friend who was just going thru this awful break up. Things were so bad that her safety had become an issue. I think that is the worst thing: when someone we trust turns on us like that. We even start to think that if this could happen with someone we love, nothing is safe. It can change us. If you don't get out of a situation like that, it kills your soul. You stop believing in everything, including yourself. You lose hope; the very thing we all need in life. This song is for anyone who has walked this lonely road. I hope this song reminds you that you are not alone and that we all deserve to safe.
